As the Finn Harps U13s prepare for today’s game against Cavan-Monaghan FP at the Moss in Drumoghill (kick-off 17:15), manager Kevin McHugh says the boys and management team have taken a lot of positives at the end of the first full round of fixtures.
"We go into second series of games with a lot of positives to build on, there has been huge improvements in the the boys. Players are getting used to the intensity of the National League, playing in tight spaces, being brave on the ball, creating loads of chances and scoring goals, which really is what football is all about.”
It’s the first season of the brand new National U13 League so it’s been a steep learning curve for all the Clubs. While the results for the Harps U13s have been mixed, the ethos of football at this age group is about developing player skillsets. The emphasis is also on ensuring that most of the players get game time in every match. Kick-off time for today’s game at the Moss is 5.15.
