Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan says his side need to move on quickly from the two draws against Dundalk and St. Patrick’s Athletic and focus on another massive match in Ballybofey on this Friday night against Sligo Rovers. It’s a Northwest derby where both teams will be battling to win their first League of Ireland Premier Division match. Harps are on two points from three games. Sligo have a point from their season opener against Dundalk at Oriel Park.
Horgan was speaking to Finnharps.ie after a press event for the media at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Letterkenny. “Myself and Paul Hegarty have been impressing on the players this week that while it was good to get the draws against Dundalk and St. Pat’s, we have to forget those results now because Sligo Rovers will be a huge test for us on Friday night at Finn Park. We have to try and get a win on the board but so do Sligo. Our lads need to be cautious and make sure we repeat the type of defensive performances we managed in the last two games and then our midfield and forwards have to find ways of getting goals. We have just one goal from three games and somehow we have to improve that statistic.”
Horgan was joined at Wednesday evening’s press event by Gareth Harkin who has played in full all three games so far in the campaign. The Harps boss confirmed that Sam Verdon has left the club by mutual consent and has rejoined Longford Town.
