Harps Reserves Win In Buncrana

Buncrana Hearts 2-4 Finn Harps Res

Finn Harps Reserves progressed to the next round of the Knockalla Cup with a convincing victory over Buncrana Hearts. The away side fielded a team made up of mainly U19s and they controlled this game from start to finish.

The first big chance of the game fell to Gabriel Aduaka but he failed to hit the target after a great cross from Corey McBride. McBride then had a couple of efforts saved before Pat Loughrey and Jack Doherty also had shots from distance saved by the Buncrana keeper.

The Harps pressure finally paid off as from a great move down the left involving Ellison and Loughrey, Stephen Doherty curled a delightful effort into the top corner to give the away side the lead. A few minutes later the lead was doubled as a great cross from Corey McBride was headed powerfully into the net by Shaun 'Fagan' Doherty and Harps went in at the break two goals up.

The home side got a goal back ten minutes into the second half as great work from former Harps man Kieran McDaid set up Bart Wesolowski to tap home. Harps came back at Buncrana yet again and furthered the lead when Gabriel Aduaka finished well into the top corner after good work from Ronan Gallagher.

The lead was stretched further a few moments later when a great ball from Darren McElwaine found Pat Loughrey and he finished well to make it four. Harps could have extended the lead even more when efforts from Joel Bradley Walsh, Darren McElwaine and Gallagher were all well saved.

Buncrana got a consolation goal back near the end from the head of Gerard Boyle. Harps progress now to the quarter final where they will take on Bonagee United. The tie is set for the weekending 8th December.
