The 15s under the guidance of Trevor Gorman and Mikey Grant continued their good start to the O’Neills Foyle Cup with a hard earned 3-1 victory over English League 2 side, Carlisle United.
An end to end first half finished in stalemate at Dungiven’s Sports Complex. Carlisle broke the dead lock early in the second half with a well taken goal from their centre forward. Harps began to push for an equaliser and after some great work by Luke McGlynn on the right, his cross resulted in an OG.
Both teams looked for a winner in the final ten minutes and it was Donegal youngsters that took their chances with two long range strikes from Liam Donnelly and Josh Maxwell ensuring that they would qualify for the cup quarter finals.
Next up for the wee Harps is a quarter final match against St. Catherine’s FC, Killybegs, at 11am at Ardmore.
